Go Foil front foils

STEP IT UP WITH GO FOIL

You will notice that the new EZ, GT, and RS models of Go Foil front foils have what we call “Steps” on them. These “Steps” are located out towards the tips. The steps help to stabilize the wings in respect to wingtip vortices issues that affect all airplanes and hydrofoils at their wingtips.

Wingtip vortices are circular patterns that spin off the tips of wings causing drag and instability. The new “Steps” help to minimize the wingtip problems that create drag and instability.

Benefits of the new “steps”

  1. The Steps give the hydrofoil a more positive feeling through the water which leads to better pitch control. “Pitch control“ means that you have better control with the up and down movement of the hydrofoil through the water. Better pitch control helps you to go faster with
    more confidence.
  2. The steps create less drag by disrupting the wing vortices.
  3. The angled Steps help with being able to initiate turns and redirect the hydrofoil. This means you can turn easier and sharper!
  4. The Steps help to stop over-foiling. This is accomplished by disrupting air travel across the wing surface when you get close to the surface of the water. Think of wingtip vortices problems like this: Air is getting sucked down from the surface of the water in the form of a mini tornado. The steps help to keep that air from traveling straight across the whole wing surface by disrupting the easy flow of air across the wing with the abrupt contour change of a Step. You will notice that you can get the wingtips out of the water on turns and   reconnect with the water flow more easily than other wings. Twist in wing tips also can help with this problem but the “Steps” are like twist or winglets on steroids!

Construction

EZ1275
Front wings are CNC shaped PVC cores with outer skins of 100% carbon with integrated cone construction connected to both top
and bottom surfaces. We use an excess amount of fiber on our wings @ 1000gm2 surface fiber loading.

All wing tips are solid carbon for maximum durability.

EZ Series

Control

Beginner

As the name implies, this line is easy to ride, making this foil ideal for quickly improving your skill level.

The EZ foil line rides at a more constant speed, especially when turning. This means that the foil will keep a steady pace and not accelerate too much during the turn. This feature makes it easier to do transitions when winging and/or helps you stay in the pocket when prone surfing so you don’t accelerate away from the wave.

GT Series

Intermediate to advanced

The “GT” stands for “Go To”. This series has the same outline and sizes as
our very popular NL series. The GT Series is a dramatically more
responsive, controlled and smooth performance foil.

The GT has more pitch control which is the up and down movement you
feel when riding. Controlling your pitch helps you go faster with more
confidence. This series is so responsive to turns that you can get the wing
tips out of the water and recover with more ease, while reducing
over-foiling.

The GT’s pump extremely well with solid initial lift and great low end. The
low-end performance of the GT allows you to glide longer without dropping
off foil.

This series has a broad range that has low end and speed which allows
you to ride a smaller foil and get the same performance.

Dave Kalama uses the GT1250 for light wind downwind SUP and the
GT1400 for really light wind downwind SUP.

RS Series

“THE RACE SPEED”

Advanced

The “RS” stands for Race Speed Series. These are the fastest wings in our
collection.

These wings are great for racing when downwind paddling or winging. They are
very fast, and turn and pump well. The RS wings are slightly thinner than the GT’s,
which gives them the extra speed.

They also cross over to waves with SUP and prone riding. The RS1000 is now a
favorite for team rider Kaden Pritchard and Max Moquin on their prone set-ups
for both, surfing and prone downwind. They use it to dock start as well!
